What if I want to transfer my domain? A domain transfer is moving a domain from one Internet Service Provider (ISP) to another. A domain transfer is a modification of the domain's information, specifically
a change in the primary and secondary name servers of the domain. If you are transferring your domain to Metanet.net, you will need to contact your current ISP and ask him to modify your domain
with the following information:
Technical Contact: PD2425Primary Server: ns1.metanet.net Net Address: 209.132.113.74 Secondary Server: ns2.metanet.net Net Address: 209.132.112.127
There are two servers listed above because Internic requires you have two for robustness in case one of them is down, there's a back up which can do the same job. By letting us be the administrative and
technical contact you do not lose any control or ownership over your domain - this is done as a convenience to our customer and is one of the services we provide when we host your domain. |

If you want to transfer your domain to Metanet.net there are a few things you should
be aware of? Whenever you transfer a domain, you should expect the domain to be out of service for 1 to 3 days. Contact
both your ISP and Metanet.net so that we can coordinate the transfer so you will not experience a loss of presence. We need the time to get everything set up on our servers and for the transfer to
take place with Internic. The old ISP will have your files until the zone is updated by Internic in which case the domain will point to our servers and thus the new files that have been transferred over. The
transfer can take between 2 days to one week. Coordination is critical and can work very smoothly if both old provider and Metanet.net are notified and work together. You should keep the service
at the present site while waiting for Internic to complete the transfer. We will provide you with a temporary IP address so you can mirror the site on our server. All email and web pages will still be
accessed from the current site. When Internic announces the completion of the transfer there is a 72 hour propagation period where visitors could go to either site. At the end of the 72 hours you should
contact the previous host to have them delete the old domain from their records and update their DNS record. |
